Originally written in Mayan hieroglyphs in the 16th century, Popol Vuh (a.k.a. the Mayan book of Creation) begins with the deeds of Mayan gods in the darkness of a primeval sea and ends with the radiant splendor of the Mayan lords who founded the Quiché kingdom in the Guatemalan highlands.

Originalmente escrito en jeroglíficos mayas en el siglo 16, el Popol Vuh (también conocido como el libro maya de la creación) comienza con las obras de los dioses mayas en la oscuridad de un mar primigenio y termina con el esplendor radiante de los señores mayas quienes fundaron el reino Quiché en el altiplano guatemalteco

The group will meet Wednesday, November 13,  7-8:30 pm, 3rd Floor, Seminar Room, Main Library.  Attendees have the option to read in English and/or Spanish. Discussions may also be in English and Spanish. Attendees do not have to be bilingual. Copies of Popol Vuh (Spanish: Popol Vuj) will be held at the 2nd floor Readers Services Desk one before the discussion. Call to register at (847) 448-8620!
