2666 is Roberto Bolaño’s final masterpiece.  In this sweeping, epic novel, the lives of its characters intersect: a group of European academics; an elusive Prussian novelist; an African-American sports writer; a Chilean professor losing his grip on reality; a Mexican police detective and the older woman he’s fallen in love with. The linchpin that links them centers around the horrific murders of young women in the Mexico-U.S. border town of Santa Teresa (a fictionalized Ciudad Juárez).
