The Weight of All Things / El Peso de Todas las Cosas

It’s March 30, 1980, in El Salvador.  9-year-old Nicolás Veras’ mother brings him to the city to witness assassinated Archbishop Óscar Romero’s funeral. But in an unexpected bloodbath of soldiers’ fire, dozens are killed and hundreds wounded. Nicholas’ mother dies and her body taken away, but he can’t believe she’s dead. His journey to find her leads through a perilous Salvadoran landscape where Nicolas is menaced by guerillas on the left and the national army  on the right.

30 de marzo de 1980 en El Salvador. La madre de Nicolás Vera de 9 años de edad, lo lleva a la ciudad para ver el funeral del Arzobispo Óscar Romero. Una inesperada y sangrienta lluvia de balazos por parte del ejército se desata; decenas mueren y cientos quedan heridos en el acto. La madre de Nicolás también muere y su cuerpo es retirado de la escena, pero Nicolás sigue sin poder creer que su madre ha muerto. En su travesía por encontrar los restos de su madre, Nicolás deberá encarar los peligros del paisaje salvadoreño, amenazado por la guerrilla de la izquierda y la armada de la derecha.
