In Doña Barbara, author Rómulo Gallegos weaves together the story of the Venezuelan llano (prairie), two feuding cousins, and the lives of ranchers, cowboys, thieves and villains, all of whom operate around the treacherously beautiful Doña Barbara, who’s a rancher…and a witch. Doña Bárbara is considered a masterpiece of Venezuelan literature.

En Doña Barbara, autor Rómulo Gallegos entrelaza la historia del llano venezolano (pradera), dos primos en disputa, y la vida de los rancheros, vaqueros, ladrones y villanos, todos ellos operan alrededor de la alevosamente hermosa Doña Bárbara, que es una ranchera … y una bruja. Doña Bárbara es considerada una obra maestra de la literatura venezolana.

The group will meet Wednesday, April 8, 7-8:30 pm, 2015, 3rd Floor, Seminar Room, Main Library. Attendees have the option to read in English and/or Spanish. Discussions may also be in English and Spanish. Attendees do not have to be bilingual.
